USC Iovine and Young Student

Hey! I'm a sophomore from Northern California studying at the Iovine and Young Academy. Outside of school, I'm fairly involved in the USC startup ecosystem and spend my weekends going on bikes, playing tennis, and exploring LA with friends. I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at USC so far and I'm excited to share my experiences with you!

Describe your college experience

The energy level of my life has been amped up to 11 since coming to USC. There are genuinely endless people to meet, clubs to join, and activities to pursue here. No matter what you choose, you'll find students (from linebackers to violin players) who are world class in their domain. Arriving here is a bit like drinking from a fire hose. But, the adjustment period is well worth it: a normal week could include a guest lecture from a Fortune 500 CEO, an SCA movie premier, a day trip to Joshua Tree, a football game in the Coliseum, and the list goes on.

Favorite class

MTEC 277: Introduction to Music Technology. In a schedule full of startup-oriented courses, the music elective I'm taking this semester stands out with a deep dive into the "engineering" behind our favorite songs. It doesn't hurt that Professor Gutierrez has seemingly done everything in the music world, from playing Carlos Santana's guitar to being invited into Hans Zimmer's recording studio.

Career goals

Build a startup.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Cooking + movie night with friends. It wouldn't hurt if USC happened to win a football game that night either.
