Describe your college experience
My college experience has been a journey of growth, leadership, and self-discovery. I began at Wayne County Community College, where I earned my Associate of Arts degree before transferring to the University of Michigan. At UMich, I’ve taken on leadership roles, including serving as Vice President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., the Trotter Chair for the Black Student Union, and Secretary for the Black Undergraduate Law Association. These experiences have allowed me to connect with others, advocate for my community, and develop skills that will guide me in my future career. Transitioning from a community college in Detroit to the University of Michigan was both challenging and rewarding. The rigorous academic environment pushed me to grow, while my involvement in campus organizations helped me build a strong support network. My experience has been transformative, shaping my passions and preparing me for the next steps in my education and career.
Tip for future students
One tip for future students is to step outside your comfort zone and make friends—you’ll need a support system to navigate college life. Don’t be afraid to get involved and connect with people; those relationships can make a huge difference. Another key tip is to create a daily schedule and stick to it. Managing your time effectively will help you balance academics, extracurriculars, and self-care. I wish I had known earlier how important it is to stay organized and prioritize building a strong routine.
Favorite class
My favorite class has been Sociology 303 because it focused on race theory and how social structures impact different communities. The course challenged me to think critically about systemic inequalities and provided a deeper understanding of the societal dynamics that shape the world around us. It was both eye-opening and empowering, as it connected directly to my passion for advocating for justice and equity.
Career goals
After college, I plan to pursue a Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis to better understand and support individuals with disabilities. My ultimate goal is to become a disability attorney and later serve as a District Attorney, advocating for justice and fairness, especially for marginalized communities. I also hope to use my education and experiences to make a meaningful impact in the field of law and behavioral advocacy.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night is hanging out with friends around Ann Arbor. Whether we’re exploring local spots, trying new restaurants, or just enjoying each other’s company, it’s a great way to relax and recharge while making lasting memories.
High school or secondary school

Previous college
• Wayne County Community College District – Detroit, Michigan, USA I transferred to the University of Michigan after earning my Associate of Arts degree at Wayne County Community College. The transition was both exciting and challenging, as I adjusted to a larger campus and more rigorous coursework. However, my time at WCC gave me a strong foundation and prepared me to excel academically and take on leadership roles at UMich.
