Hello! My name is Nate Middlebrooks, and I’m a freshman at the University of Georgia, where I’m pursuing a degree in Insurance and Risk Management on a pre-law track. As a third-generation Bulldog, I’ve been a die-hard Georgia fan my entire life, and it’s an honor to carry on the family tradition here. I absolutely love the UGA campus the energy, the traditions, and the spirit of the students make it a special place. Describe your college experience

As I reflect on completing my first semester at the University of Georgia, I can confidently say that my experience has exceeded every expectation and fulfilled my childhood dreams. I’ve made incredible friends, embraced the incredible sports atmosphere, and immersed myself in the dynamic energy of campus life. At the same time, I’ve been fortunate to grow academically at a top-tier university, challenging myself and broadening my horizons. UGA has truly lived up to everything I envisioned, and I’m excited for the journey ahead.

Tip for future students

The best piece of advice I can offer to incoming UGA students is to fully embrace everything this university has to offer. Dive into every opportunity—make new friends, take a class that sparks your interest, attend a sporting event you’ve never experienced before, and most importantly, immerse yourself in the college experience and make it uniquely your own. UGA is a place where you can create unforgettable memories, so make the most of every moment.

Favorite class

As I begin my second semester of college, I’m excited to take a class titled "The Love-Hate Relationship Between Water and Humanity." This course is part of Georgia's First-Year Odyssey Program, which offers incoming freshmen the unique opportunity to engage in small, discussion-based classes on intriguing topics that might not typically be part of the standard curriculum. It’s a chance to explore a subject from a fresh perspective.

Career goals

After earning my undergraduate degree in Insurance and Risk Management from the University of Georgia, my goal is to continue my education at UGA’s law school. I aspire to become an attorney specializing in business law, where I can leverage my background in risk management to help businesses navigate legal challenges and thrive in today’s complex environment.

Ideal way to spend a free night

My ideal way to spend my free time in Athens is by exploring the city’s diverse restaurant scene and nightlife with my friends. So far, one of my favorite spots has been Cali n Tito’s Latin/Spanish restaurant.

High school or secondary school

I graduated from Centennial High School in Roswell, Georgia. During my high school years, I also had the opportunity to take dual enrollment classes at Georgia State University in Atlanta.
