Freshman from Minnesota majoring in Anthropology
Hi, my name is Thorn! I'm a freshman at FSU hailing from Minnesota. I'm an Anthropology major with a special interest in Biological Anthropology and Archaeology. FSU has been absolutely life-changing for me, and I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to help others figure out if this is the right place for them.

Describe your college experience
The biggest change for me was the culture shock of moving across the country. Living in a Living-Learning Community (LLC) truly made the difference in easing that transition, not only in moving to Florida, but in moving from high-school to college.
Tip for future students
I wish I had known about how accepting the FSU staff are. Living in an environment where you feel welcome and safe is one of the best ways to make college something you enjoy, and FSU did that for me. It's incredibly easy to find a place you belong and "your people" at FSU.
Favorite class
My favorite class has been Introduction to Physical Anthropology with Dr. Geoffrey Thomas. The professor is passionate about the subject and so engaging. I looked forward to this class every day despite it being a morning class (which usually does not end well for me). It also sparked my interest in Biological/Physical Anthropology, something I never would have considered had I not taken this class.
Career goals
Initially I was hoping to be an Archaeologist, but I'm now looking at more lab-based jobs. As of right now, I'm thinking of working in Forensic Anthropology.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My best free nights are spent with my friends. Whether it's at a large party or just hanging out in my dorm, as long as my friends are there, I'm having a good time.
