Cornell University
bubbly + broke college student willing to talk for an hour about cornell :)
Hi I am Sammie. I am a current sophomore at Cornell University. I saw this job opportunity on Handshake and thought that I have had a very unique college experience that I love sharing it with others so why not do that while also making a little extra cash!

Describe your college experience
Unstable, but in a good way! I have been moving around non stop, starting my freshman year at Northeastern in London, then in Boston and now I am a sophomore in Ithaca.
Tip for future students
Something my friends and I joke about is "riding the wave". Obviously Cornell is a very difficult and challenging school and we were transfers so we were definitely used to easier classes, but something I feel like they don't tell you is when your prelims (exams) start, they don't really stop. So at the beginning of the semester you have to, as if you are on a surfboard, start paddling and studying so that you are not completely consumed by the "wave" or the work. So my biggest advice and get on top of things early and do NOT procrastinate.
Favorite class
So far my favorite class at Cornell has been domestic animal biology. You learn about every single part of an animals body and it is a great way to get hands on experience through the labs!
Career goals
I hope to attend grad school, hopefully somewhere in the Northeast again or in a different country. I want to go to vet school and become a doctor working with small animals (cats and dogs). I hope to work in emergency vet in my younger years as a doctor, then eventually own my own practice.
Ideal way to spend a free night
If I am having a night in with my best friends we like to craft and talk while watching a romcom. A few nights ago my friends and I made slime while watching "He's just not that into you". BUT if I am going out, I will probably go to a frat that my sorority mixes with that also my close guy friends are a part of.
High school or secondary school
I went to Saint Ursula Academy in Cincinnati Ohio. It was a all-girls, catholic, private high school.
Previous college
Northeastern! I transferred to Cornell this past semester after studying abroad in London for one semester and then Boston for one semester. I have had an amazing transfer experience. I obviously have also had a very unique experience as I have went from place to place. I would definitely say that getting involved on campus, going to workout classes, and just having an experience already moving around has made this switch soooo much easier! Academically, I will say it has been a little more of a struggling because I went from getting straight A's at my old school without really studying to locking in at the library until 3am just to do average on that test.
