Campus Tour - Freshman Living On South Campus!

Hi! My name is Lucas, I am a business and political science major from Raleigh, NC! I remember going on lots of college tours as a junior and senior through the colleges themselves, but I can tell you so much more about what makes UNC different than other schools the good and the bad. I live in HoJo, the largest freshman dorm on campus, and I am very involved for a freshman. I can give you a great sense of what day to day life is in Chapel Hill!

Describe your college experience

I have loved UNC! The first few weeks it was super easy to meet new people, and classes slowly transitioned into work. There are so many things to do, if you try to get involved, you will never be bored. It is hard to go to parties as a guy if you do not pledge a frat (I can give yall the scoop on that) so that’s not fully what I expected. But there are lots of other ways to have fun. I played intramural flag football, having never played before, and made lots of friends from that. I got all A's and one A- my first semester and I absolutely love it!

Tip for future students

Make sure to click the box to apply to major specific schools and the honors college if you have not applied yet. Find a roommate do not go random, and you might want to plan out some suitemates as well. TRY YOUR HARDEST ON YOUR AP EXAMS, they can help you get done with your gen ed’s. Make sure you plan your classes a lot before registration to maximize getting requirements for graduation and your major. Granville meal plans don’t have many swipes. Neither Granville or Inc campus dining halls are very good.

Favorite class

ECON-101: Intro to Economics, and POLI-150: Intro to International Relations. Both of these classes were just super interesting and had excellent professors. I really enjoyed solving the r problems for ECON, and discussing world events for Poli-150.

Career goals

After graduation I hope to be a management consultant, then I want to switch to something like private equity, venture capital, or entrepreneurship.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Go out to dinner on Franklin with my friends, if it’s not the weekend then just chill in the dorm and talk. Maybe play basketball or flag football if it’s warm.

High school or secondary school

Sanderson High School, Raleigh, Wake County, NC

Previous college

I did two online classes at Wake Tech my senior year. I can talk about transfer credits and comparative difficulty.
