Navigating Bama: Your Ultimate Guide to the University of Alabama
Hey there! I’m a freshman majoring in Management Information Systems (MIS) here at the University of Alabama. When I’m not hitting the books, you’ll find me in the gym or on the mat doing jiu-jitsu—staying active is a big part of my life. As a former high school athlete, I’m always up for a challenge. I live in the dorms and have a good handle on the dining hall situation, so if you need tips on food options or navigating campus, I’m your go-to. I love walking around and know my way around pretty well, so I can help you get anywhere you need to be!

Describe your college experience
My transition to college has been amazing! I absolutely love Alabama—the weather is perfect, the students are great, and the classes have been engaging. I’ve met more people and made more friends than I ever thought possible, and the nightlife here is a blast. It’s been a fantastic experience so far, and I’m excited to see what’s next in my college journey!
Tip for future students
My biggest tips for future students: Apply for housing as early as possible—it fills up fast! Plan your wardrobe around the weather here, and don’t bring more clothes than you think you’ll need (the dorm rooms are pretty small). Bring a lot of hangers, and be ready to spend some late-night cash on DoorDash. Also, budget for Ubers or Joyrides (the golf carts), because the campus is huge. If you don’t get along with your roommate, don’t stress—you can request to transfer to another dorm!
Favorite class
My favorite class so far has been Management Information Systems. It’s been really easy for me, and I absolutely love the topic—it’s a perfect fit for my interests. I’m excited to take more advanced courses in the future and plan to declare a minor in something finance-related to complement my major.
Career goals
After college, I’m hoping to land a job in enterprise sales where I can leverage my MIS degree. I’m excited about the opportunity to combine my technical skills with business and sales to make a significant impact and earn a great income.
Ideal way to spend a free night
I try to keep my week balanced by focusing on my studies during the week and reserving Friday and Saturday nights for going out. When I do go out, I’ll usually head down to University Boulevard or to a fraternity party. On quieter nights, I like to hang out with my girlfriend, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy the variety of great places off-campus.
