Describe your college experience

I am currently in my fourth semester at VT, and I love it more and more each semester. My transition from high school to college was surprisingly simple (and so fun!). I was excited for college, but I am really close with my family, especially my siblings, so I was nervous to be away from them. Transitioning from living with your family to living in a dorm with peers is really different, but it was one of the most special experiences of my life because I met my best friends (who I will be living with for the rest of my time at Virginia Tech!) and learned a lot about being independent. I made the most out of my first few weeks at school and met as many new people as I could, introduced myself to my professors, and committed to balancing my social and school lives. Being at Virginia Tech, especially in Pamplin, made the transition very simple because I was surrounded by my peers with similar interests. Throughout my freshman year, I built solid relationships with all of my professors, made best friends, and decided to go through formal recruitment. I joined Kappa Delta, and being a part of a sorority has also been so special to me. It has given me more community service opportunities, leadership roles, and more amazing friends and memories. As a sophomore, I live in an apartment off-campus, and I love getting work done at coffee shops in and around campus. My experience is still so fun and exciting-- I can't believe I am nearly half way through college. It has gone by so fast and I have enjoyed every minute. The culture at VT is something truly special.

Tip for future students

Try your best not to stress about all that's to come. The first night in your dorm, the first time eating at the dining hall, etc., can seem intimidating, but you will get used to it really quickly. I would also recommend going to club interest meetings and new student activities during the first few weeks, because you'll meet so many new people who are really excited to make new friends. I also recommend introducing yourself to your professors during the first week or so. Lastly, embrace being uncomfortable and say yes to everything you can. Freshman year you're surrounded by people who are new and anxious just like you-- take advantage of being new and try as many things as possible. Freshman year went by way too quickly so take in every moment!

Favorite class

I have enjoyed really all of my classes, but my favorite was Foundations of Business class that all Pamplin students will take, usually as freshmen. My professor was really smart and funny, and there was a group project that forced me to meet a lot of other freshmen in my class which I really loved.

Career goals

If there is one thing I love, it's people! I don't know exactly what career I'd like to pursue; however, I do know that I want to be in a people-facing business, which is why my two majors are Hospitality and Tourism Management and Commercial Real Estate. I can definitely see myself in sales of some kind.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I like hanging out with my friends and socializing on the weekends, and during the week you can find me getting dinner with my friends, at the library doing work, or watching The Bachelor with my roommates.
