Hello, I'm Gabby, a freshman at UTK majoring in communication studies. I'm open to pursuing a career in video editing or marketing. In my free time, I enjoy exploring campus with friends, crocheting, and expressing my creativity in various ways. I'm also actively involved with the African Students Association and the Art Club on campus.

I've been involved with the African Student Association as a member and a dance performer at one of the events. Plus due to my interest in art and love for drawing in general I joined the Art club too. I want to show my creativity as a member and, once I return, contribute to the club's committees. At my home church, I've been a part of the choir, a leader of the children's ministry, and an announcer and I have proceeded to take on the role over school breaks.

Describe your college experience

Thus far I've had a positive and engaging experience on campus. Classes have been challenging but I've adjusted and did well academically in my first semester. I've made many new friends and connected with some old friends so far, plus I've been acquainted with a new church community. Also, I've learned to navigate around campus much better and find classes and other places on campus more easily. Overall I've learned many new things so far and hope to continue to further on.

Tip for future students

I encourage those coming here to get involved with the various communities and events held at the school. Doing so has been a great way to make new connections and expand upon your interests or figure out what they are. Also as a rule of general measure practice time management and planning when it comes to day-to-day tasks. I know I at times struggled with it when it came to my bedtime schedule. With other things like classes and socializing with friends, this skill is especially important you can properly utilize your time to study or do homework, be involved with organizations, spend time with friends, and have personal downtime.

Favorite class

I've enjoyed psychology class the most because the content itself has always been interesting to me and I've enjoyed some of the projects we have done. Additionally, the structure the professor of this class taught was very engaging and easily comprehendible. My favorite parts of class especially are the music at the beginning and the times when we've physically engaged for lectures.

Career goals

After college, I want to start my career, in video editing or any other technologically related career and eventually segue into an entrepreneurial route.

Ideal way to spend a free night

I would spend my night in bed with some flaming hot Doritos watching some type of mystery movie on Netflix.
