Hi! My name is Aeryn, and I'm a first-year at Cal majoring in English and considering a minor in Italian Studies. I'm originally from the Washington DC Metro Area/Virginia. On campus, I edit for the Daily Cal (the best student newspaper in the country) and write for Brain Scramble Magazine. I love hiking and exploring the Bay Area, and I know all the best cafes/study spots in Berkeley.

Describe your college experience
The transition from home to college was difficult, but it's been so worth it. Berkeley has such a unique environment from academic to extracurriculars, and as cliché as it sounds, people here really do "work hard, play hard." Don't get me wrong — I have a couple horror stories. But I also have some of the most beautiful, formative moments I've ever experienced.
Tip for future students
Apply for stuff! There is *so* much going on at this school. It can seem really scary and really competitive, but you may end up getting an opportunity that leads to great things, even if you don't think you have a shot.
Favorite class
So far, English 45B. I think I grew more as a reader/writer in that class than all four years of high school.
Career goals
I want to work in fiction writing/screenwriting/publishing.
Ideal way to spend a free night
Dorm movie nights/debriefs/craft nights with snacks have been a highlight for me.
