Hello! I'm a first-year student at the Wharton School and a first-generation college student from Arizona. I’m currently exploring my interests in finance and management, and I’m excited to learn about various career paths in business. In my free time, I enjoy playing badminton, reading, and attending student events on campus. I’m also interested in traveling and exploring new places when I get the chance. Describe your college experience
My transition to college has been both exciting and challenging. As a first-generation college student, navigating a new academic environment has come with its learning curve, but I've found support from peers and mentors. Programs and certain communities at Penn have allowed me to connect with my peers and build great friendships that I can rely on. I’m actively exploring different fields of study at Wharton, particularly finance and management, while getting involved in student organizations like Wharton Management Club and Wharton Undergraduate Finance Club. The sense of community here has made it easier to adjust, and I'm enjoying the opportunity to connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
Favorite class
My favorite class so far has been a sociology course about family with Dr. Paula Fomby. Although it’s not a business fundamental at Wharton, the subject matter is incredibly interesting, and I’ve learned so much from it. The class challenges me to expand my thinking and explore topics beyond my usual scope. I also appreciate how Wharton’s structured yet well-rounded curriculum allows me to pursue interests outside of business.
Career goals
I'm still exploring my career options, but I'm excited about the opportunities ahead. Right now, I'm focused on gaining diverse experiences through my classes and extracurricular activities at Wharton. I'm open to different paths in business, such as finance or management, but I also want to continue exploring areas outside of business that interest me. I hope to find a career that aligns with my skills and passions as I continue to learn and grow during my time here.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night would be attending a campus event or going on an adventure with the close friends I've made through the programs and communities here at Penn. I enjoy creating fun memories together, whether we're exploring the city, trying out new restaurants, or just hanging out. These moments allow us to relax and strengthen our friendships while making the most of our college experience.
