Hello! My name is Ava Veith. I started at Virginia Tech in January 2020 as an undergrad. I was a student athlete on the women's soccer team until I graduated in May of 2024. Now, I am a graduate student here at VT and hope to graduate after the spring semester. I have absolutely loved my experience as a Hokie and I'd be happy to tell you more about my time here and answer any questions you may have!

Describe your college experience

Being a student-athlete has been the most rewarding experience of my life. Virginia Tech has given me experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today, friends that will last a lifetime, and opportunities that have given me an exciting future. There is truly something for everyone at VT and I am proud to say this school has given me exactly what I never knew I needed!

Tip for future students

Don't be afraid to ask for help and reach out to people! If you are interested in the research a professor is doing, or want to become involved with something, just ask! During my freshman and sophomore years, I had no idea what I wanted to do after graduation. I was always reaching out to people through email looking for opportunities, and I was blown away by how many people responded. They were more than willing to help me, and because of that I was able to gain experience with a variety of things which eventually led me to my future career!

Favorite class

My favorite class had to be the kinesiology class I took last fall. I am personally very interested in this topic, and I was able to directly translate what we were learning in the class to the research I was doing at the time. The professor was very engaging and excited about what he was teaching, which made me excited to learn as well!

Career goals

I am currently a graduate student working on my masters, but after that I plan to go for a doctorate! I'll be in school for a while haha

Ideal way to spend a free night

I love to spend time with my friends! Love just hanging out in the living room and chatting. But I also really enjoy going for walks and seeing the sunset. Blacksburg's sunsets are absolutely beautiful!
