Describe your college experience
Moving to New York to pursue my LL.M. at NYU has been an exciting and challenging journey. Coming from Bolivia, the transition to a fast-paced academic and professional environment has pushed me to grow both personally and intellectually. NYU's diverse and dynamic community has given me the opportunity to engage with top-tier legal professionals, participate in thought-provoking discussions, and immerse myself in the city’s vibrant culture. While adjusting to a new country and academic system was initially overwhelming, it has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve enjoyed meeting people from all over the world, exploring the city, and making the most of everything NYU has to offer.
Tip for future students
One of the best tips I can give future students is to embrace every opportunity that comes your way—whether it’s networking events, student organizations, or simply exploring the city. NYU has an incredible community, and making connections early on can be very beneficial both academically and professionally. I also recommend staying organized and managing your time wisely—classes can be intense, and balancing academics with social life is key. Don’t be afraid to ask for help; professors and classmates are always willing to support you. Lastly, enjoy New York! The city has so much to offer, from cultural events to hidden cafés—take advantage of it all while you’re here.
Favorite class
My favorite class has been International Law because it provides a deep understanding of how legal principles apply across different jurisdictions and how they shape global relations. The course has been particularly engaging due to the discussions on arbitration, cross-border transactions, and the role of international institutions. It has not only reinforced my interest in international dispute resolution but has also given me valuable insights into how law operates on a global scale.
Career goals
After completing my LL.M. at NYU, I hope to pursue a career in international law and arbitration, working with cross-border disputes and global legal matters. I am passionate about connecting different legal systems and helping businesses navigate international regulations. In the long run, I aim to use my experience to contribute to the legal field in Latin America, fostering a more robust and globally integrated legal environment.
Ideal way to spend a free night
My ideal way to spend a free night in NYC would be starting with a Night Date at The Met, exploring the exhibits in a more relaxed and intimate setting. After that, I’d head to a cozy jazz bar—maybe Smalls or The Django—to enjoy live music, good company, and a great atmosphere. If there’s still energy left, a late-night walk through the city or grabbing dessert at a hidden café would be the perfect way to end the night! or watching a movie and cooking whenever i'm more on a chill vibe!
