Passionate, Social FSU Student Guide

I am interested in music, festivals and concerts, art, nature, fashion, sociology, psychology, philosophy, and communications. I dual enrolled in high school, so I started at FSU as a Junior by class standing and a Freshman at heart, which was a bit of a learning curve. I've never lived on campus, but because of my involvement with student organizations, I had no problem making friends each semester. FSU has many subcultures and a very active social scene that can accommodate just about anyone who chooses to be involved, which is one of my favorite parts of attending this school.

Describe your college experience

From the moment I got to FSU I enjoyed college life, the freedom, the diverse people, the multitude of entertainment and activities, and the beautiful campus. Even this comfort and enjoyment of my time didn't stop me from struggling at times with mental health and ever-changing college relationships. FSU is wonderful, but it is important to pay attention to the people you befriend, there are some amazing, nourishing groups on campus, but at the same time there are just as many people who will not have your best interest at heart. College has afforded me the opportunity to grow and learn about myself in ways that will continue to benefit me throughout my life.

Favorite class

Social Psychology! This class was always very easy to attend because the course material is so interesting and applicable to our own everyday lives. Every class I would walk away thinking about the topic, applying it to myself and others I know.

Career goals

I hope to work in the live music industry. Right now I am filling up my resume volunteering at music festivals, where I hope to earn a paid position. Eventually, as I get older I will make my way out of the festival industry and into the music venue sector of live music.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Personally, I enjoy a chill night catching up with friends or enjoying the company of my roommates. With this being said, FSU has a very active late night scene with options for under or over 21 clubs, greek events, raves, and my personal favorite house parties and DIY band shows. There are many different routes to take each night, but there is always something to do.

High school or secondary school

Previous college

I dual enrolled in high school through Northwest Florida State College, and because I graduated with an AA degree, all of my credits were accepted by FSU. On the flip side of this, FSU often doesn't accept courses from other schools, so transferring with a degree is the safest route.
