Virginia Tech
Pre-PA/Sports Medicine Undergraduate Student
Greetings! I am a Pre-PA student at Virginia Tech and in my final year. If you would like to know anything about this side of education VT has to offer or even the athletic atmosphere then I am your person. Since my time here I have been a part of many areas such as president of Sports Medicine Club, member Pre-PA club, member of a honor society, intramural sports player, member of a ski/snowboarding club, part of a motorcycle group, and a member of a fly fishing club. I currently work in orthopedics while finishing up, but always have time to chat or tour! I want to give you a real look at campus and the atmosphere of Blacksburg. Message me today to see if Blacksburg is home for you in your educational journey.

Describe your college experience
Virginia Tech was not my first choice out of high school and I never received the chance to tour. That being said, four years later and I can say I truly could give a rating and review based on my depth of involvement. It took some time here, but as you can see, I had many irons in the fire during my time here. College is not always what you are prepared for, especially if you came from a smaller rural school like myself, but you can do it. I’d love to introduce you to this school so you can feel confident about your choice in furthering your education.
Tip for future students
There is a long list I could write of things that you must do and things you really must not do, but to keep it short let me give you my top three now. First, try to stay in a dorm freshman year, preferably a suite style. You will meet so many people and those people usually will be around you until you graduate. Second, get involved with something that gives you a break from academics. I know for PA programs they want to see academic extracurricular activities, but also have an outlet for you because let’s face it, burnout is REAL. For me, this outlet is fly fishing and my motorcycle club. Three, do not buy the text books for each class you have unless you want to spend money for no reason. You do not need a textbook to pass many of these courses. I have more to share but those would be three important ones that anyone with any major or interest could follow for any college.
Favorite class
Metabolic nutrition was probably my favorite course because you learn about the development of diseases and disorders due to the process of how your body utilizes aspects of your diet and environment.
Career goals
I am currently applying to PA programs as of this semester while working in orthopedics.
Ideal way to spend a free night
If it’s a free Tuesday night, I’m probably going to catch up on work and watch some shows. A free Friday or Saturday night, I’m going downtown. Sundays are for recovery and your weekend is all about balance.
