UNC Chapel Hill tour guide

Hi, my name is Annie and I am a freshman at UNC. I love meeting new people and just having conversations. My hobbies are reading, listening to music, and crocheting, so a lot of arts and humanities stuff. I am an easy person to get along with and an outgoing. I am excited to meet people who are looking at UNC as an option for them.

Describe your college experience

The transition to college was pretty easy for me. I love Chapel Hill although it is very different compared to how I was told during my tour. The campus itself is very lively and fun with lots of different activities to do all the time. The people on this campus are very nice and friendly 95% of the time. Franklin is fun for the first few weeks, but you will not go there as much as you think you will. The dining halls will be your best friends along with the libraries. For the most part this is a great campus and school, but do not expect a movie like experience.

Favorite class

My favorite class so far is my Archaeology and Pop culture class. The professor, Dr. Smit, is the best that I have right now and the content is very fun. We mainly watch movies and do some readings. The main form of assignment is discussion boards, but they are short and you only have to respond to one person. Overall, the class is easy and interesting.

Career goals

I hope to become a professor focusing on Mediterranean Archaeology.

Ideal way to spend a free night

Probably on Franklin or enjoying some of the other activities either in the dorms or on campus. I know that my dorm hosts a lot of game nights and movie nights, so those are fun ways to spend your evening.

High school or secondary school

I went to Cleveland Early College in Shelby, North Carolina.

Meeting point
